Anna M. Aubertine

Anna M. (Annie) Aubertine, Clayton, New York passed away peacefully as she wished on June 7, 2017 at Wilmot Cancer Center, Rochester, with her loving and devoted husband, Larry by her side.

Born March 24th 1937, to John and Gurtha Shettler Galvin in Syracuse New York, she was raised and educated in Mattydale with her five brothers and siiters. As part of her early career, she worked for Addis & Dey as a stock clerk, as well as doing some advertising modeling for their ladies department.  She also worked for Bristol Laboratory's in the comptroller's office and was also their Safety Poster girl.  All this before meeting Larry on a blind date, marrying October 1st,1960 at St. Margaret's Church, Mattydale and migrating to Clayton.

While raising four fantastic children, she managed to leave her mark as part of the staff of Graphic Control, Frink Snowplows, Corbett Enterprises, The Shipyard Museum (ABM), French Creek Family Medicine, St. Mary's Church and she assisted Dr. Laurie Rush with her archeological work.  She also owned "Apple Annie's" consignment stores located in downtown Clayton and on Public Square in Watertown.  Her favorite "job" by far was her adventures at Precision Marine, Cape Vincent, NY.

In addition to being a great, patient wife and mom, she was a true friend, a great cook and could fix anything - an argument, a bad day, a break up (not hers)  and many Volkswagens - with a glass of wine.  She was a proud member of the Clayton community serving (on two separate occasions) as a member of the Joint Town/Village Zoning Board of Appeals.  She most recently worked on the committee that  updated the Town/Village's Comprehensive Plan. She was also a member of Hawn Memorial Library Board and The Red Hat Society.

She and dad loved to travel to grandkid's recitals, games, birthday partys, graduations and plays.  NASCAR played a big role in her life from traveling to race tracks near and far with their little pop-up camper, cruising at 120 MPH (in Jeff Gordon's #24 car) during her Richard Petty Driving Experience at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to the death of her favorite, Dale Earnhardt.  Her car will continue to bear THE INTIMIDATOR license plate decor.  Sunday afternoon races were not to be interrupted; nor, were the nightly JEOPARDY shows.  If Alex Trebek himself called between 7 -7:30pm, he would have been put on hold!

Annie/Mom/Gramma/Nutsy was certainly not cheated out of a wonderful life which was recently celebrated at her 80th surprise birthday party.

She was a faithful communicant of St Mary's Catholic Church in Clayton, ensuring that all her children were brought up in the faith.

She is survived by for husband of 56 years, Larry, three daughters Susie O'Neill and her partner-in-crime, Joe Chrisman, Clayton; Sally and Bob Fancher, Gloversville; Shelly and Joachim Fiebich, Elizaville;  and her one and only son, David and Gretchen Aubertine, Orchard Park.   She was fortunate to have unusually talented grandchildren, Molly Kirkland O'Donnell and her husband Brian, Zoe and Anna Fancher, Thomas and Casey Feibich, and our newest addition, Samantha (Sammy) Kristina Aubertine; a sister, Laurel Gendreau; a sister-in-law, Patricia Bristol; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by grandson Lawrence Fancher, three brothers Thomas, John and Edward Galvin, and one sister, Irene Hawes.

There will be no calling hours as she has donated her body to University of Rochester Medical School Anatomical Gift Program.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Church, Clayton at 10AM on Saturday, June 17, with Rev. Arthur J. LaBaff, pastor, presiding.  Arrangements are being handled by Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton.  Donations may be made in her name to:  Wilmot Cancer Institute, Advancement Center, 300 E. River Rd, POB 278996, Rochester, NY. 14627. Online condolences to her family may be made at www.cummingsfuneral.com

The family would like to thank all their friends and neighbors for their support during Ann's brief illness.
